Janis Torke Egan MT(ASCP), LAc
Janis has a life long interest in many of the aspects of healthcare from medical technology to Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 1974 she graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, with a B.S. in Medical Technology. She has spent over 25 years in both the corporate pharmaceutical and community hospital worlds while studying many of the various aspects of TCM.
Since the beginning of her patient contact years in the 1970’s, she began studying the noetic sciences and exploring unexplained phenomena. Deciding to apply this training to the formal aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), she attended the Midwest College of Oriental Medicine at both the Racine, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois campuses shortly after the beginning of the millennium, and graduated in 2003. The total academic and clinical hours in the Acupuncture program are over 2,000. Graduates of the Midwest College's Acupuncture program receive Master's level certification.
Janis is WI licensed to practice Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. She is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. In early 2004 she began practicing at the Proactive Wellness Center in Lake Zurich, IL and also had her own business in Vernon Hills, IL.
Janis was the acupuncturist at the Holy Family Memorial’s Wellness Center WellSpa from 2006 until summer 2008. Recently she opened her own clinic in the old historic Rummeles building on 8 street . Manitowoc is Janis’ home town and she is thrilled to be back with friends and family, serving a population she knows well.
